Update – 16 July 2025

News & Updates
Guess which guitar has now its page on the website? (Photo: Michael Spencer Jones)

This update features a brand new page – and it’s a big one.

It has been a long time in the making. The first draft on my computer dates back to 2014 – almost a decade before this website even existed. The history of this guitar is murky, with obscure moments and twists, but I believe the reconstruction I’ve put together finally makes sense. I’ll let you be the judge.

So, what finally pushed me to finish it? Well… the fact that I was wrong.
One of the guitars on stage during the Live ’25 tour isn’t what I originally thought. With better footage now available (and a hint from a sharp reader who was there), it’s clear: an old favourite is back.

Keep reading after the break for the full story & a detailed list of various updates…

NEW PAGE:

Epiphone Riviera (Matsumoku, Antique Sunburst, with Bigsby)

You guessed it: the Bigsby Riviera from the Definitely Maybe cover is back, and it’s being played live on stage by Bonehead during the Live ’25 tour. Hard to believe, but yes, that’s the one. After the first gig, I mistakenly thought it was a Casino (a recent addition to Bonehead’s collection). But as clearer footage emerged, it became obvious: it’s not just any guitar: it’s a piece of Oasis history that’s been around since 1993.

This new page is a deep dive – long and detailed – but I know most of you will enjoy it.

Naturally, the article covering the gear used during the reunion shows has also been updated accordingly!

UPDATED PAGES:

The page dedicated to Noel’s other Matsumoku Riviera – the Wine Red model – has been expanded and updated too.

The ex-Marr Gibson Les Paul “conversion” is currently on display as part of the special exhibition during the Live ’25 tour. Interestingly, a sharp-eyed reader pointed out that this guitar was also used live back in 1996 -great catch!

The Cherry Sunburst Les Paul page has been updated to reflect its current use as one of Noel’s main guitars during the Live ’25 tour.

Mystery solved: the “sticker” on Noel’s new P90-equipped Les Paul turned out to be leftover rubber – yes, really. You have to check out this one!

New background details have been uncovered on the Gibson SG Custom used at Maine Road in 1996.

Minor edits were made to the pages on the Firebird and the Red Les Paul.

Hi, thanks for doing this one, I’ve been wondering about this one for a while. My thoughts were that Noel took the pick guard off the riviera so it would look like Paul McCartneys casino, which has a similar vibe 🙂
