Details

This page combines information on two similar guitars: a pair of Gibson semi-hollows in Natural (also known as Blonde) finish.

One of the earliest clear sightings of the first guitar appears in a photo by Justin Downing1: it is an ES-335 with Bigsby B7 vibrato, dot neck, short pickguard and Grover tuners. The photo was taken in Spring 2025 for the launch of new signature chukka boots by Novesta, designed in collaboration with Noel in support of Teenage Cancer Trust.

It definitely looks like a modern reissue - maybe a Gibson Memphis model from the mid 2010s or a more recent "Made To Measure"2, custom-ordered (and artificially aged) model.

During the Live '25 tour, it is being kept backstage as a backup to Noel's main #1 ES-355.3 More info about the reunion gear in this blog post.

The other guitar - an original ES-345 model from 1972 - has never been seen as of today. It was bought by Noel in Chicago in April 2012:

"Had a day off here yesterday. Bought myself a new guitar!! Hadn't bought one in a couple of years. A beauty it is too. A blonde Gibson 345, 1972, quite rare."4

It's quite a rare sight indeed — only a small number of Natural (Blonde) Gibson semi-hollows were produced before the more recent wave of reissues.

At first, I considered the possibility that Noel might have mixed up the models and was actually referring to a 1972 Natural ES-335 instead of an ES-345. But that theory doesn't hold up: 1972 ES-335s featured a different headstock shape and block inlays on the neck. So, as far as we know, the ES-335 seen in the 2025 photo is not the same guitar Noel bought in Chicago back in 2012.
