The Les Paul signature is among the least conventional guitars ever made by Gibson - and it was not very successful.
It was designed by Les Paul himself in 1972 and it was produced from 1973 until 1979. It featured low-impedance pickups and two input jacks: a low impedance jack on the side and a standard jack on the face of the guitar. The controls are also non-standard: there is a three way impedance switch (to select three different impedance values, i.e. different tones) and a switch for putting the guitar pickups out of phase in the parallel (middle) position. The other two knobs are volume and tone as per usual.1
It was made in two colours only: Goldtop and Sunburst. Sunburst ones are more valuable because it was produced in smaller numbers.2

The first appearance of Noel's LP signature was at Top of the Pops in May 1995, where the band mimed Some Might Say. By the way, this was also the first appearance of drummer Alan White, who had been hired the day before the filming!

This guitar can be seen on the sleeve of the Don't Look Back in Anger single, leaning against a Marshall stack.

It was then used during the recording sessions of the album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, in 1999. A few pictures, taken in May 1999 by renowned rock photographer Jill Furmanovsky, show Noel playing the LP Signature at Chateau de La Colle Noire, near Nice, in France.

In 2011 it reappeared during a photoshoot that took place in London on August 17. Japanese photographer Mitch Ikeda said that Noel "prepared a mysterious Gibson guitar for my photo shoot."3
