Details

Noel has played various Cherry Sunburst Les Pauls since 2000. They all seem to be '59 reissues, with flamed top - and they were used for almost everything during the 2000 and 2001 tours.

In the later tours a Sunburst LP became the guitar of choice for heavier songs like Cigarettes & Alcohol and Rock 'n' Roll Star.

One of these Les Pauls (serial 93094 - used in the studio and as live backup) was sold in 2005 to a London guitar shop.

The serial number and the decal on the back of the headstock reveal that this is a particularly special model.1
The Historic Collection program was introduced at the 1993 NAMM Show, funded by donations from select dealers who sought accurate 1959 Les Paul reissues. These guitars were the most historically faithful Gibson had produced at the time and were supplied exclusively to those contributing dealers.2

Noel's guitar was the 94th made in a limited run of 120, and one of just 42 to feature the 'Historic Collection' decal. The other Sunburst LPs played in the early 2000s might belong to the coveted Historic Collection series too.

In 2019, serial 93094 was sold again by a French dealer to a USA-based collector3 - and some say that is now back in the UK.

After Oasis' demise, these Les Pauls were not seen publicly with Noel until 2019, when a Cherry Sunburst LP appeared at a few select dates. It's unclear if this is a new Custom Shop model or one from the Oasis years.

A very similar Les Paul - possibly the same one used in 2019 - was spotted in Noel's guitar rack at Lone Star Studio during a 2023 photoshoot.

The same Sunburst LP proved to be one of Noel's main guitars for the Live '25 reunion tour, featuring on seven songs during the opening shows. Notably, he also debuted another Les Paul, equipped with P90 pickups.

One LP - likely the main Sunburst played throughout 2009 - was also played during the Summer 2011 rehearsals at Music Bank Studios in London. The first NGHFB lineup experimented with a few unusual songs and arrangements during these sessions.

According to a couple of rehearsal setlists, the LP was used for The Good Rebel, (I Wanna Live in a Dream in My) Record Machine and Stop the Clocks.

However, it wasn't brought on tour - and Stop the Clocks was never played!
